Â鶹¹ÙÍø-dedicated COVID-19 Vaccination Opportunities Tomorrow (5/18) and Friday (5/21)

Dear Students:

As we approach the hope and optimism of robust in-person experiences in the fall, I encourage any students still in Pittsburgh who have not yet been vaccinated to take advantage of timely and convenient opportunities to receive a vaccine on campus this week:

  • University Health Services will administer the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination on campus tomorrow, May 18th in Rangos Ballroom. To register for an appointment, please visit our . Registration is highly encouraged, and we will endeavor to accommodate walk-ins as dose availability permits. The Moderna vaccine requires a second dose, which will be administered on June 15 for those still in Pittsburgh. In accordance with county and state guidance, I encourage all who have not yet been vaccinated to get your first dose as soon as possible, even if you will be in a different location for your second dose.
  • Additionally, our partners at Allegheny Health Network (AHN) will hold a vaccine clinic in Wiegand Gymnasium on Friday, May 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. AHN will offer both the vaccine and second doses of the vaccine during this clinic, and recipients can choose based on personal preference. The J&J vaccine, available for people 18 and older, is a one-dose vaccine that offers students the opportunity to receive the full vaccine dosing before departing for the summer. AHN encourages walk-ins for this opportunity.

Last week we announced that Carnegie Mellon will require COVID-19 vaccinations for all enrolled students in the fall semester of 2021. Vaccine adoption is critical to supporting our ability to return to a near normal experience in the fall. Until we are better able to document vaccine adoption from our community, Â鶹¹ÙÍø will continue to require facial coverings on campus, including during this weekend’s Commencement ceremonies.

Thank you for doing your part to help curb the spread of COVID-19. Your commitment to receiving a vaccine and to our mitigation strategies will help us all emerge from this crisis stronger and even better prepared to address humanity’s challenges. It has been a great honor to be part of this community throughout this moment in history.

Sincerely,

Gina Casalegno
