Presentation Awards
Participation in academic conferences is a great opportunity to polish presentation skills and develop professionally. Presentation Awards are available to Carnegie Mellon undergraduate students who plan to present their research or creative inquiry outside of the campus community.
What can I do with a Presentation Award?
The award can be used to defray the cost of conference registration, travel, lodging, and food expenses. Students should also seek additional funding through their departments, professional organizations, and external awards to supplement their OURSD Presentation Award.
How much funding can I get?
Individual students can be awarded up to $300 for regional conferences (conferences taking place in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Washington, DC), or up to $500 for conferences in other states or abroad. Students can receive one award per academic year. Awards are available as funds last.
Am I eligible?
You are eligible for a Presentation Award if:
- you are a Â鶹¹ÙÍø undergraduate student in a degree-granting program;
- you are not on academic or disciplinary probation, or on a leave of absence or suspension;
- your research has been accepted for presentation at an academic conference;
- you will not have graduated prior to the conference.
- Graduating seniors may apply for funding if the conference takes place within the 2 months following graduation, but must apply and be approved prior to graduation.
When should I apply?
OURSD accepts applications on a rolling basis; however, we suggest you apply as soon as you are accepted to the conference.
