Mawhinney Named Executive Director of Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø's Swartz Center
Dave Mawhinney has been named executive director of the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship, Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø's hub for entrepreneurial research and education.In addition to holding posts at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Donald H. Jones Center for Entrepreneurship at the Tepper School of Business, Mawhinney co-founded four startups, including mSpoke, which was bought by LinkedIn in 2010.
His appointment was announced in a letter to the university community from Provost and Chief Academic Officer Farnam Jahanian. Lenore Blum and Jonathan Cagan were also named faculty co-directors.
Last summer, James R. Swartz gifted $31 million to fund the Swartz Center. Its campuswide launch is planned for fall 2016, according to the Center's website.
