Tartan Bike Project

The Tartan Bike Project is Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø's student-led on-campus bike shop, offering all you need to get going on a bicycle. Stop in to get advice on bike repair and maintenance, or sign up for a repair appointment. If you don’t yet have a bike, we offer short- and long-term rentals and affordable used-bike sales. The Tartan Bike Project is also a hub for social bike rides, campus bike events and bike-related activism.

Bike rental

Expert advice

Learn how to fix your own bike! We’ll help you diagnose and repair what’s wrong, and offer a discounted price for any needed parts.

Repair service

Don’t have time to work on it? Schedule a time to drop off your bike with us to get repaired. There is a $35-per-hour service fee.

Bike sales

We have a available at affordable prices, some already repaired and some needing work.

The Tartan Bike Project is founded and operated by Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø students. Our mission is to promote biking – through volunteerism, work-study and advocacy – as a vital mode of transportation on campus and throughout Pittsburgh. We are funded by contributions from Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø's Graduate Student Assembly and Undergraduate Student Senate.

Location

The Tartan Bike Project shop is located in the first floor of the , next to to the Gates Center for Computer Science. If you’re transporting a bike, the shop space is accessible via Hamerschlag Dr. If not, you can enter the Gates building and take the elevator down to the first floor, then follow the signs for the parking garage.

Spring 2026 Regular Hours

Monday: 3-6 p.m.
Wednesday: 3-6 p.m.
Friday: 3-6 p.m.
Closed on holidays.
